Who do you work for?

"Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord and not for men," Colossians 3:23 ESV

"Bondservants, obey your earthly masters with fear and trembling, with a sincere heart, as you would Christ, not by the way of eye-service, as people-pleasers do, but as bondservants of Christ, doing the will of God from the heart, rendering service with a good will as to the Lord and not to man, knowing that whatever good anyone does, this he will recieve back from the Lord, whether his is a bondservant or is free" Ephesians 6: 5-8 ESV

No matter where we find ourselves, we must consider ourselves working for Christ and not for man. We have no excuses to do mediocre work as a professed follower of Christ. In fact, we shouldn't even expect a reward in this lifetime, though God may provide one. All our work is heavenly work whether we realize it or not. Whether we are a pastor, a butcher, a plumber, a mechanic, or a salesman, we are all called to work for the Lord and minister through our work. If everyone truly worked as if for the Lord imagine how successful your business would be, imagine how the Lord would bless us!

I think about Joseph and the story of his relationship with Potiphar and the incredible witness Joseph had through this story. Joseph worked for his "master" as if he was working for the Lord and the Lord blessed the WHOLE kingdom on account of his efforts. That is one man! Imagine what many men and women could accomplish working through the Lord and His power.

Let is be said of us as men - that where we go, our work is so excellent as unto God, that our entire atmosphere is blessed. Always remember to work as unto the Lord and allow the strength of your character to be louder than your words.

Now ask yourself this question:

WHO DO I WORK FOR?
