Fear Not

"Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand."
Isaiah 41:10 ESV

Isaiah 41:10 is one of my favorite verses in all of God's word. It has encouraged me on so many different occasions (especially of late). Take a moment and go back and re-read what God is telling us in that passage above. He shows us that there is no rational reason to live in fear. He also tells us that there is no reason to ever look anywhere for protection, help, or especially strength. He simply wants us to look to Him.

God is with me at all times. He is the thing that gives me the strength to face down the giants in my life. He is the help when no other help can be found. His promises are forever unlike the promises made by us in our humanness. It is in those promises, like the one found in Isaiah, that gives us something to plant our feet in, a concrete of faith to set our foundation on, and know that He will always do what is right for us in any given situation.

What reason do you have to be discouraged today? What thing is holding you back from living a life of true freedom? What fear has you paralyzed like a deer stuck in the path of a moving truck? Don't hold onto those things that cause you discouragement and fear. There is no need to live like that any longer. There is a cure for the things that plague you.

That cure is simple: Faith in Jesus Christ. He is with us at all times. No matter where we find ourselves, no matter what situation we are stuck in, and no matter what we might have done, Christ is there to show the greatest love and mercy that can ever be shown to a human on this side of heaven. He is our strength when our strength fails. He will give you the endurance you need especially when you are tired and worn out. He is with you always. He is a constant source of help. It is in those moments when we feel the doubts and anxiety closing in, the fear starting to overtake our heart, that we remember that Christ has already defeated death and the grave and He did it so that we could have the victory that we could never gain on our own. The same power that raised Christ from the grave gives you and I the power to defeat fear. The same power that resurrected Christ gives us confidence in the things unseen and power over the enemy. Don't run away from the fear, face it down with Christ's help, tell the things you fear or doubt that in the name of Jesus Christ that it no longer has power or dominion over your life.
