Keep Pushing

“And let us not grow weary of doing good, for in due season we will reap, if we do not give up. So then, as we have opportunity, let us do good to everyone, and especially to those who are of the household of faith.” ‭‭Galatians ‭6:9-10 ‭ESV‬‬

How many times do we give up and quit something just before we have the opportunity to experience whatever blessing we have coming? We simply don't know. But I suspect it is more than we could ever realize. I can relate to this being reminded when ever I lost out on a deal that I had been working extremely hard to land only to lose out in the end but knowing that the next day I had to get back to that point again on a new deal and pick up the pieces every single day. I had to remind myself not to get tired of doing good, but rather to persevere in doing the right things every single day. Absolutely no shortcuts. 

I once heard a story of a great piano player that was due to perform at a large concert hall. While everyone was getting seated for the concert a little boy made his way to the stage. The bright lights shone down upon this beautiful grand piano that was sitting center stage. The young boy couldn't help but let his curiosity get the better of him and he made his way on stage and started to play the only song he knew..."Chopsticks." It wasn't long before the crowd noticed that this wasn't the scheduled performance and began to shout for the boy to be removed from the stage. It wasn't long after that that the piano player noticed the crowd shouting and he made his way to the stage. He walked up behind the young man and began to play a beautiful tune around the simple one that the little boy was playing. He leaned down to the boy, who was startled by his presence and told him to keep going. He told him "Don't stop, Don't quit. I'll stay right here by your side until the song is over." 

Isn't that the same way Jesus is with us all? He says to each one of us at different times, "Don't stop. Don't give up. Don't quit." He tells us as we wake each and every day the same thing...Don't give up! The day ahead may be weighed down with discouragement, disappointment, a sense of impending defeat, and uncertainties around every corner but if we stop and listen to Jesus' promises we will find the strength and the will to keep pushing. He is always standing there telling us "Don't quit! Keep pushing! I will stay right here by your side until you're all the way through it."

Talk about the motivation to persevere. With Jesus beside us, behind us, and ahead of us, we should have no reason to ever stop or to quit pushing.
