As You Think So You Are

YOU have the ability to paint a picture of what your life is going to look like. You may not get all the details exactly right, but you certainly have a part in shaping what your future looks like. your perspective today has a lot to do with what happens tomorrow. What you believe and what you expect have a tendency to come about.

Now, understand me when I say this, I am not a "name it and claim it" guy. What I am saying refers to our mental state and the way it can come out in our lives. My grandpa used to tell me when I was a teenager that if I wrestled with a pig that all I was gonna get was muddy and the pig would like it. The same applies to our thought lives. If we think negative our lives will inherently be negative. This is why it is so important to be careful how we speak, think, conduct, and develop ourselves. The landscape of your future is in a large part determined by what you think it will be and by how you see yourself in it. This doesn't mean you can manipulate your future, but there is a strong connection between your perceptions and your outcomes. The people who have a positive outlook experience more positive results more often than negative ones. So it is vital that your thought life remain positive.

We all have the opportunity to paint a good picture of our lives, why wouldn't you want to paint a good one? Why not envision success and accomplishments instead of failure? We are all children of God and He doesn't give us bad gifts. Base what you think on what you know to be true and base it upon His promises. If you base your perception of yourself of what the world tells you then you will get exactly what the world wants you to have...nothing! Go to God for the correct perception of who you are and who He wants you to be. He will paint the perfect picture. Expect good and pursue it rather than simply going through life without a plan and seeing whatever happens.

I am in no way saying that life will be easy, but what I can tell you is that negative thoughts will set you back. Only with God's help-His power, encouragement, and energy flowing through our lives along with the gifts, abilities, and talents that He has given each and everyone of us. We can shape our future. Because He created us, we have the potential of living lives of significance, possibility, and impact.

For better or worse, what you envision often begins to take shape. Be intentional and choose to envision a life of significance and impact.
