Because HE Lives

I am reminded of a song, "Because He Lives" This is a song that means a lot to me. One that I learned as a young "pew biter" growing up in a small Nazarene church back in Arkansas. I remember seeing the tears in my grandfathers eyes as he sang this song, I remember thinking even as a little guy that this must be special because Pawpaw's aren't supposed to cry!

I personally like the Crowder version of this song. It is a song about a savior that looks beyond our pain, our junk that we carry, and sees a child that needs a father.

The chorus goes like this: "Because He lives I can face tomorrow, Because He lives all fear is gone, Because I know He holds the future, then life is worth the living just because He lives."

The second verse speaks about the time when we will cross the river and be without pain and death will give way to victory and we will see the lights of glory and know that He lives.

How do people live without Jesus? Where is their hope found? Their bank account? Economies fail! Their spouse? People die and people leave! Their homes, cars, possessions? That stuff will burn, rust, and turn to dust. There is nothing that you or I have in this world that we will take with us!

The only thing we can hope for is the life that Jesus promises in His word. We have it so good because we can see things from this side of the cross. The people that came before the cross couldn't see the hope that we have.

I have a hope for tomorrow whether I succeed at my job or I walk out in front of bus. My hope rests in my relationship with Jesus Christ.

If you don't know Jesus as the Lord of your life I would welcome the opportunity to welcome a new brother or sister into the family of God.

  1. Matt, believe it or not, I sang "Because He Lives" as a solo in my youth choir several years ago. It is one of my favorite songs!
