Trust

“"Therefore I tell you, do not be anxious about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink, nor about your body, what you will put on. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothing? Look at the birds of the air: they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they? And which of you by being anxious can add a single hour to his span of life? And why are you anxious about clothing? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow: they neither toil nor spin, yet I tell you, even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these. But if God so clothes the grass of the field, which today is alive and tomorrow is thrown into the oven, will he not much more clothe you, O you of little faith? Therefore do not be anxious, saying, 'What shall we eat?' or 'What shall we drink?' or 'What shall we wear?' For the Gentiles seek after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them all. But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you. "Therefore do not be anxious about tomorrow, for tomorrow will be anxious for itself. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble.”
Matthew 6:25-34 ESV

Even if you have only been a Christian for a little while or even only have casual knowledge about Christianity, then you have to have heard the phrase, "You just have to trust God." But have you ever stopped to think about why God wants our trust to be placed in Him? And it ain't because God wants us to have a less stressful life, although I can tell you that placing your trust in God during stressful times can come with a trusting faith in God.

Jesus gives us a simple example of why trusting in God is essential to our spiritual journey.  Look to verse 31-32 of the passage above, (Highlighted section). Did you see the message Christ was sending to us? One word. Gentiles or pagans in other translations. Basically, Christ was saying that even non-believers worried about the same things and God still provides their basic needs. He was showing us the sovereignty of God. The One that set the planets in place, controls the tides of the oceans and breathed life into your body.

God is fully capable and fully deserving of managing our lives. We have to simply give Him the controls. We have to trust in His plans and understand that His ways are better than ours. When we reject the plans that God has put into place for us, we are telling Him that our idea for our lives is better than His and we surrender our lives to chaos. It is as if we are telling God that He doesn't exist for us. At that moment, we are no different than a non-believer that has never heard of God and His love for us.

God calls each one us to be different than the world. And the start of that difference begins with fully trusting Him and His plans for our lives in every single aspect. There is no plan that I can come up with for my life that is better than the one God already preordained. I have been through a great deal of personal tragedy in my life and I can honestly say that I wouldn't change any of it. It is what has made me the man I am today and made my story honerable to God. It was His plan and not mine. As a human, I would want to spare myself and my family from undo harm or grief but as a Christian it isn't that way. It's Gods. Period.
