Leave The Party

“He said, "I have been very jealous for the Lord, the God of hosts. For the people of Israel have forsaken your covenant, thrown down your altars, and killed your prophets with the sword, and I, even I only, am left, and they seek my life, to take it away." ‭‭1 Kings ‭19:10‬ ‭ESV‬‬

There Elijah sat, feeling oppressed. Things around him were on a definite downturn. He was sitting around and wallowing in his own self pity. I have definitely been there and I would imagine that you have too. Might have been a while back or maybe you are there right now but it is something we all share in at some point in our lives.

What? You don't think so?

Weren't you walking around recently in a daze with an expression on your face revealing a definite lack of joy in your heart and in your life? Someone that you love had said something to you that broke your heart. Or maybe you were the one who felt that because of a bad time or a bad childhood and you feel like the world owes you something as a result. Well, I can tell you if you are waiting for the world to be sympathetic or to give you what you are longing for then you will be waiting a long, long time.

Tough luck or wrong choice, doesn't matter. God has planted each one of us right where we are for a reason. But maybe you have decided that you would rather sit there in your own little pity party of one while the opportunity that is being given to you passes you by and is wasted forever because not every opportunity God gives you and I includes a repeat engagement if we miss it.

Although the rain and wind may be blowing so hard we can't see the bigger picture God has for us but what I can assure you is that nothing in our lives happens by chance. All you have to do is turn on your spiritual windshield wipers and decide to pick yourself up and get back in the fight. Take the advice that I am sure others in your life have tried to give you, get over it and be the person that God intended for you to be. Step out of the self focused pity party and change the world around you. Take off the party hat and leave. Simple as that....God has way too much for you to do.
