Hope For Tomorrow

From an early age, we are taught that worrying is a necessary habit to have. We grow up seeing the adults in our lives, whether intentional or unintentionally, worry themselves into a fever. Worry is introduced as a discipline that will hopefully straighten us up and cause us to change. While worry can spur us into action, more often than not it becomes a habit that leaves us in a constant state of fear, distraction, hopelessness, anxiety, and defeat. Worry is one bad habit that has to be BROKEN! It will cloud your judgement and blur your vision so that all you can see is the problems of the present. You lose the ability to focus on the bigger picture, God's ultimate plan for your life. The plan to live with our Creator for all of eternity. The plan to worship Him with no more sickness, sorrow, or pain. His plan should be all that matters. As we being to break the habit of worry, you will see and live with God's ultimate plan for your life and ultimately bring Him glory through it. He will then truly be the center of your life. This isn't easy by an means. It will never be pain or struggle free. He doesn't tell us that anywhere in His word. There will be bumps in the road. Things that will cause you to want to stray from His path and worry night and day about. To truly finish the race that is set before us the way that He desires us to we have to set our hearts and minds on Him. Everything on this earth is temporary and will pass away one day. There is nothing here that we can take with us. When we remember this fact, we can strip away all that exterior problems and really focus on what God has for us to do and His plan for our life.

When my wife passed away six months ago I remember one thing that my pastor said to me, "Matt, you are looking at life through a keyhole. Your vision is very, very limited. God is looking at the same picture you are but He looks at it though a huge bay window. He sees the whole picture." That has stuck with me since that day. God sees the outcomes and the solutions that we may never see. He knows all the reasons and the whys of everything that happens in our lives. God has to be the center of everything we do. He is the goal that we all must shoot for....to live a life that is Holy and pleasing to Him. We will always encounter reasons to worry and fret; we live in a fallen world full of sin and imperfect people. These encounters must drive us on to action instead of making us freeze like a deer in the headlights of an oncoming car. We can't live a life of fear.

I have to live a life one day at a time knowing that everyone experiences fear at some point in their life just like I do but that I have to live for the moment and that it is all about God's grand plan. The difference between us and everyone else is that ultimately we have a hope for tomorrow.

"And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, "Behold, the dwelling place of God is with man. He will dwell with them, and they will be His people, and God himself will be with them as their God. He will wipe away every tear from their eyes, and death shall be no more, neither shall there be mourning, nor crying, nor pain anymore, for the former things have passed away." Revelations 21:3-4 ESV

"For we know that if the tent that is our earthly home is destroyed, we have a building from God, a house not made with hands, eternal in heaven." 2nd Corinthians 5:1 ESV

"And he said, "Listen, all Judah and inhabitants of Jerusalem and King Jehoshaphat: Thus says the Lord to you, 'Do not be afraid and do not be dismayed at this great horde, for the battle is not yours but God's." 2nd Chronicles 20:15 ESV
