So much of what we do as humans - so many of the mistakes we make and desires we have - flow from having very little to no self esteem. It often begins to happen to us when we are young. Many of us wear masks, strive for unworthy goals, get into bad relationships, compromise our integrity, or just blend in with the crowd that we happen to be with at the time because deep down inside we carry a wound that makes us needy people. We forget the most important thing that makes us who we really are: children of God in the family of God.
If I do nothing else through this I have to make sure I get this point across: we are ALL created by GOD! I know you have probably heard this all before but don't let that simple truth lose its meaning. Take a moment and remember that you were known before you were born and your days were planned out ahead of time. God knew my strengths and weaknesses before I did. He knew that I would be able to sing and speak in public but He also knew that I would have a weakness to porn and wanting everyone to like me. He knew what I would like and dislike even before I did. He knew I would go through a divorce and that I would lose a spouse in a span of 7 years. God knew all this and still He allowed me to go through it. WHY?
He did all these things so that I could have a positive and eternal impact while here on earth and after I am gone. My design was made to last. Somewhere there is someone struggling with the same desires and they are plagued by the same sin that I am. He made me for times such as these. God guards over the purpose of my life and my destiny. He is aware of all my needs and He is constantly watching over me. Jesus once told a crowd of people that God takes care of the birds of the air and the lilies of the field and if He cares about them how much more so does He care about me? You and I are both part of God's intricate design for this world and His plan. If you are saved through Jesus Christ then you are family as far as He is concerned. He is our Father and He designed each one of us with a specific purpose.
Until you and I allow this to sink into the depths of our hearts we will never get over problems with self esteem. Allow your heart and mind to be filled with a healthy sense of self worth, one that will enable you to know and fulfill your purpose in this life. God knew you and I in our mothers womb and chose to use us for such a time as this. Join me in reminding ourselves of the truth that is Jesus Christ because it will impact every other area of our lives.
