What are you willing to do?

"This is my commandment: Love each other in the same way I have loved you. There is no greater love than to lay one's life down for one's friends." John 15:12-13

I read a story today about Wake Forest University's baseball coach giving one of his players his kidney. That's right, a kidney!

Why would a man that had no relationship other than coach and player give up a part of his body? Faced with the same situation what would you do? It is unimaginable to most people. But as Christians we should be able to imagine that sort of sacrifice very easily.

Jesus Christ did that very thing! He didn't just sacrifice one organ, He placed His life on the cross to save us all from Hell and Death. You may not be in the same situation as the player and his coach, but you may be called to do something else. It's not the "what" that is important; it's the "what will you do" that is important. As followers of Christ, we are called to love the way that Christ loved-to lay down your all for others the way He laid down everything for us!

As we strive to be like Christ, be ready to lovingly sacrifice something for others. It may be the most important thing that you do.

Now ask yourself, What will we do on others behalf?
